Move here

Bring the tree you already have

From MyHeritage, Legacy, Gramps, TNG or another program. It takes an evening – and you can always move out again.

How to move

  1. 1. Export from the program you useSave the tree as GEDCOM, or as GEDZIP if you want the photos along. If you use TNG, you can bring the photo folder.
  2. 2. Bring it into a new treeYou see what comes before anything is added, and get a report of what could not be carried over.
  3. 3. The places are linked to the registerThe place names from the file are linked to municipalities, parishes and farms. What is not found, you tidy in one list.
  4. 4. Carry on where you left offThe sources, notes and photos are there. Now every fact gets a status, and the tree a health check.

The formats

GEDCOM 5.5.1 and 7

The standard almost every genealogy program can save in. Large files are imported in the background.

GEDZIP

GEDCOM 7 with the photos and documents in one package – up to 4 GB, uploaded in pieces.

TNG

From The Next Generation: persons, sources and the photos with who is on them.

What comes along

  • Persons, names, events and relations
  • Sources and citations – into the evidence model
  • Photos and documents (GEDZIP and TNG)
  • The places, linked to the place register
  • Your notes

And out again, whenever you like

You can download the whole tree at any time as GEDCOM 5.5.1 or 7, GEDZIP with the photos, or Mimir's documented JSON format. Nothing is held hostage – not even when you go over your plan's limit.
